ROBBIE
Robbie is a nice kid who only wants to do right by his younger brother, Gabe. Studious and hard-working he tries to fulfill his duties financially, domestically and scholastically to the best of his abilities. That said, while he might be the dream responsible young adult, Robbie's wants and needs begin and end with Gabe. Helping others or being an hero is nowhere on his list. He wants his happy home life where his brother grows up to be an happy functioning adult and nothing else. Lately his classmate Lisa has been introducing the idea to him that he could have something else, a life beyond raising his brother, but for now his world still begins and ends with Gabe.
Respectful and courteous, Robbie is very easy to like. Only Eli knows of the true anger that burns deep inside of Robbie. He resents the squalor and danger he's forced to raise Gabe in. The abuse and use by those around him in society, so many people trying to take advantage of him or right out take what's his because they perceive him as weak, incites him. He hates the helplessness he feels on a daily basis and the constant difficulties in his way to achieving the simplest of goals. His parents, who abandoned him and Gabe suddenly with no explanation, in particular he finds it hard to forgive. And of course there's Eli. Eli who tried to use Gabe, is responsible for Gabe's condition and who's forced him to become a murderer to sate Eli's endless bloodlust. Robbie has a lot of anger.
But he cherishes Gabe more than his anger. So he forces himself to be an upstanding and kind young man, a role model for Gabe. Someone who takes his responsibilities seriously, but knows how to laugh and joke. A person who can hide his sadness and focus on the good in his life over the bad. Robbie is always trying to be the best possible person to set the best possible example for his brother.
Despite this Robbie isn't trusting or naive. He knows people will try to take advantage of him and works to counter this by keeping himself informed. Whether that's counting his pay to keep from being stiffed or knowing the market value of a wheelchair to keep from being fleeced, he doesn't expect anyone to give him a kind turn. He asks for help from those he's learned he can trust because he has to, but when it comes down to it if he can do anything alone Robbie will. He tries to rely on himself first and foremost. It's only for Gabe's sake he's most often willing to let people in. With Lisa he's slowly exploring letting in people to help him, not his brother, but it's an uphill battle. Most of Robbie's focus is still wrapped up in Gabe to the point a life without Gabe is difficult for him.
ELI
Eli is a satanic killer and he lives up to it. What he loves most is himself followed by his car. Killing is his high and it's never enough. Violence is a nice appetizer, but it's the death of others he craves more than anything. Proud and self-centered, the only things that put a leash on his murder spree are his own experiences and his dependence on Robbie.
Eli's lived a life of fighting and testing his own limits. He knows not to bite off more than he can chew. ...Until he's strong enough to spit it out like the trash he views it to be. As such he can be incredibly patient, biding his time and making small moves one by one to get what he wants. Whether that's to incite Robbie to murder or convince Gabe to make a contract with him he's willing to go in for the long haul and work towards his goals patiently.
That said Eli doesn't like to wait. He is a glutton for what he enjoys and having to play at Robbie's leisure incites him. If Robbie refuses to cooperate him he will work to bring the boy to heel. A surprisingly understanding individual of human emotion (despite his complete lack of morality) Eli is always whispering in Robbie's mind. He knows the buttons to push, the phrases to use and the subjects to attack to make Robbie vulnerable to his will and he has no hesitation in using any of it. This makes him Robbie's most dangerous foe. Luckily for Robbie as long as his bloodlust is being sated Eli is more than happy to work together. When his own needs have been fulfilled he can be very amenable to doing things that normally would never hold his interest.
Despite being so proud as to see no fault in himself (to the point of pushing his pregnant sister-in-law who did down the stairs) Eli understands he has his limits. Losing or being beaten doesn't rankle him. There will always be an opportunity for a next time. Of course his understanding doesn't mean he's forgiving. Deny him of something he wants and he can hold a grudge. Indefinitely and obsessively. He's willing to wait for his moment to get revenge.
ELI & ROBBIE
To Eli Robbie is both a tool and an unfortunate partner. He enjoys Robbie's anger and sees something of himself in Robbie giving them a rather sadistic bond. Robbie despises Eli, but he understands it was his own greed that originally led to his partnership with Eli. He knows Eli is the stronger of the two of them emotionally, but thanks to help from Johnny Blaze (the official Ghost Rider) Robbie is able to keep Eli in check. Much to Eli's annoyance. Eli constantly tests Robbie waiting for the moment he slips up to take control of their shared body, much to Robbie's fury.
Abilities/Skills:
ROBBIE
Robbie himself doesn't have much special to him. Most of his skill is in racing and mechanical knowledge (he works at an auto shop and knows more than his fair share about modern day vehicles). Throw in he can make some killer mac’n’cheese.
ELI
Eli was a mafia hitman, satanic worshipper and all around scumbag in life. As such his skills (when he lends them to Robbie or takes control) are more versatile. Fighting, barehanded or with weapons, comes easy. He's also not a bad hand at torture. Assassin skills such as tracking, breaking and entering and low-level information gathering are also in his repertoire. Finally Eli is versed in the Satanic artes. He knows spells to tie a soul to an object, person or bloodline, thus granting a type of immortality. TQP LIMITATIONS: Satanic artes are unable to establish a telephone to Hell, spell failure!
GHOST RIDER
When Eli and Robbie work together they can form the Ghost Rider. This is a skeleton figure with hellfire coming out of its forehead. As Ghost Rider Eli and Robbie have a lot more at their disposal
-1969 Dodge Charger/Hell Charger: Eli's car, tied to his (and thus Robbie's) soul. Able to function as a normal car or an hellfire ghost car. Wheels of fire, insane speed, able to change it's tangibility at Ghost Rider's whim, teleport to wherever Ghost Rider might be, drives at his command even when he's not in it, hits like a tank, and possessing an healing factor (yes the car has an healing factor 100% for real). It's trunk acts as a shadow portal with Ghost Rider able to place items (or people) in the trunk to send them to other shadows or retrieve them the same way. Ghost Rider can also combine with it, melding his body into it (most often useful for spying on others). TQP LIMITATIONS: if Robbie can even have the car! I am assuming it can run silently (elsewise I have no idea how a Ghost Rider ever sneaks up on a scene ever also it's a ghost car), but I think just saying when driven it's perplexingly a massive drain on Robbie to nix any ride offerings or car trips? And natch if anyone not him drives itEli would skin them aliveit will function like a normal car and they'll pretty much attract every Sound Eater in the city and die a gruesome deathand then Eli will skin them alive for getting his self-healing car trashed. Mainly I just want the car for people to be ??? over and something else I will PM you!
-Weapons, weapons and more weapons: Ghost Rider can form weapons (and chains, lots of chains). These can be broken, but being formed from Ghost Rider's powers he can repair them or cause them to disappear and create a different weapon. Ghost Rider can also direct them to do his bidding without holding them. The ghostness, it's a themehe's great at Halloween.
-Shadow travel: Ghost Rider can travel by walking through shadows. He can bring items and people with him. Because it's shadow travel Ghost Rider's available locations are limited depending on where he wants to go and what time of day it is (a park at noon is going to be much harder to find a shadow in than a parking garage at night). TQP LIMITATIONS: taps chin so I'm kind of thinking of saying if he tries to travel anywhere more than a few streets from the sandpaths it doesn't work? Or it's such a drain the longer the distance from them it's more endangering than convenient? And also some places it just doesn't work period (like the theatre). This way he's stuck to the same general area as everyone else.
-Hellportals: literally opening portals to Hell he can travel through (and even bring friends for the ride!) or drag people down to Hell in. TQP LIMITATIONS: nixing it cause gamebreaking plus also how much Eli would bitch that someone would dare impede his connection to Hell delights me haha.
-Endurance and durability: hits fast, never grows tired, ridiculously hard to injure, doesn't breathe, only feels pain at extreme “pieces of me are literally chipping off” levels. He's a skeleton, does whatever a skeleton does.
-Strength and regeneration: Super strong. Also regenerates himself. Both his skeleton body (if it's even damaged) and, when he reverts to human form he bears none of Ghost Rider's wounds. If he had wounds before turning into Ghost Rider those also disappear and remain gone upon reversion.
-Hellfire: Ghost Rider can create and control hellfire which can burn both the physical and the spiritual.
-Purity Senses: Ghost Rider can tell the purity of a person's soul (regardless the state of said soul he doesn't intuit the deeds that led it to be so).
-Penance Stare: Ghost Rider stares at someone and inflicts all the pain and suffering they have ever caused back on that person tenfold (if it's really bad not only does it hurt, but you apparently explode).
Samples: I wrote some cold samples, but let me know if this has to be threads and I'll scare some current ones up! I use bold to denote Eli and italics to denote Robbie when they communicate mentally.
NETWORK SAMPLE
Two network samples here because sometimes Robbie is in control and sometimes it's Eli.[ROBBIE]
Hi. I know there's currently no way to get back to our homes. The locals told me. But people are working on it, right?
[There's a pause in the texts as Robbie fights the shaking in his hands. Normally he'd not have even asked —he's a Ghost Rider, he can travel anywhere in his sleep. He even has! But, somehow, his hellportals aren't working here. It's been a long time since he's felt this helpless, dependent on others to do what he can't.
Steady breathes there, Robbie. We'll get answers. No one blocks me off from Hell and gets away with it. Whoever the fuck is behind this: they're going to pay.
Eli's voice in Robbie's head is an odd, yet familiar support. Right. Robbie starts texting again.]
I have a little brother back home. He's alone. No one knows I'm gone and we don't have any family. I'm sure everyone wants to get out of here. Just if there IS anything being done please let me know.
I want to help.
[ELI]
I kind of get it. Why the Sound Eaters do what they do. Hunting us down, always on the prowl to get every last living thing in this world. You have to admire the dedication. There's so many
Oh sorry haha were so many
Living things here the job must be a real undertaking for them. I should try to be just as studious of an example. Well back to the grind. Who wants to do a little patrolling?
You know me, always wanting to help haha.
[Of course, there's no rules saying everyone has to come back from patrol. Those darn exemplary Sound Eaters...
Heheheh.]
LOG SAMPLEWhat are we going to do, what are we going to do, Eli, what are we going to do?!
The first thing Robbie had done once free of the reset room was not claim a room or familiarize himself with the area. It'd been to slip into one of the many abandoned buildings —an hotel lobby with a badly sagging ceiling indicating irreversible water damage, in this case— and transform. No flames, no chains. Couldn't risk the sound. But he was himself (and Eli) in all their skeletal might.
He wasn't feeling much of the might right now.
The first thing he'd attempted to do was open a hellportal back to Hillrock Heights. Cruel to the people here maybe, but he had to get back to Gabe. His brother came first then maybe he could do something for these people. As he'd waited with growing anticipation— nothing had happened
Calm down, kid. You're stressing too much. Must be a mental block. Here, let me do it—
And again they'd waited. And again— nothing. Eli had swore, first in Spanish and then in English. Now Robbie was pacing as quietly as he could (not hard, he was currently a ghostly skeleton with the skills of a satanic serial killer) and attempting to wave his arms in distress just as quietly (more of a challenge between his growing panic and the tears already pushing at his eyelids).
You think I know, you fuckin' brat?! No one comes between me and Hell. NO ONE! When I find who's responsible I'm going to take my time, they're going to be singing like ol' Yeller before I put this fuck down—
Eli was angry. He was always angry, usually at Robbie. Hardly anything new. But this was different. Eli was angry and Robbie staggered as the bloodlust for retribution rolled over him. He was going to be sick.
Stop it! You're going to get us killed!
It was a sharp reprimand filled with Robbie's desperation. He pressed his hand over his mouth silently. He'd already died once. He didn't want to see how well matched Ghost Riders were against Sound Eaters. Not when all he could think of was his disabled, completely dependent on him brother, alone in an empty house. Eli must have realized the danger because after a moment the bloodlust lessened, from a scalding boil to a roiling bubble. While he was forever chipping away at Robbie's defenses, even Eli knew it was no good if it got them both killed.
Okay, kid. Calm down. This isn't any worse than anything we've handled before. Get into that shadow over there before you puke your guts out. We'll go to that town hall the locals mentioned. Supposed to be soundproofed in there.
Robbie was nodding his head mechanically as he sluggishly moved to a shadow draping a wall. His figure was hunched as he walked into it, disappearing one blackness into another.
Once you're feeling better we'll try our powers. All of them. See what works, what doesn't. And then you'll make a post to that network. Ask what's being done to get everyone out of this trash heap. Some Mary Do-Gooder has to be trying something. We'll get out of here. You'll see Gabe again. You trust me, don't you?
No. But on this one I don't seem to have a choice.
Just like all their deals it stoked the sullen fires within him. But that was okay. Even if he lost control there was no one here for Eli to hurt. Not after the amount of murder the Sound Eaters had done. Or so Robbie thought...
